A
dark adaptation of the novel Pinocchio, made in the form of a soulslike
production. In Lies of P, we play the role of a terrible mechanical
doll hero who plays Mr. Geppetto, wanders the gloomy city of Krat and
faces the nightmares that await him there. Lies
of P is a soulslike production, a dark adaptation of the novel
Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. The title was developed by the Round8 Studio
team (creators of the Bless Unleashed game) and published by Neowiz.
Storyline
Lies of P takes us on a journey to the gloomy Krat. This once beautiful metropolis, reminiscent of Western European cities from the Belle Époque period (including Paris), is now empty, and among its ruined buildings you can meet all kinds of monsters. The main character of the game is an animated, mechanical doll named Pinocchio. The protagonist wakes up in an abandoned train station, and the only clue about what he should do is the piece of paper lying in front of him.
Mechanics
A characteristic element of the game Lies of P are the titular lies. Based on them, the production procedurally generates tasks waiting to be performed by Pinocchio. Moreover, they influence the course of the plot and the protagonist himself. The more often Pinocchio tells untruths, the more human he becomes and, consequently, he gradually loses the possibilities he has as a mechanical doll.
